Canadian canoes are larger and heavier than kayak’s with a wide open frame, canoes are paddled facing forward, each paddler has a single-bladed or half paddle and selects a side to propel the boat forward, paddlers usually sit on a seat or kneel inside the boat. Max passenger weight 300kg.

Cruise on Somersun. Available for morning, afternoon and evening cruises. Our narrowboat is only available for hire with SBC staff skippering, she can carry twelve passengers. We encourage and welcome all passengers to assist our skipper in driving Somersun and assisting with locks, mooring and the swing bridge, all trips and cruises can be as interactive as the individual/group wish them to be. Somersun is available for private hire, which is perfect for birthday celebrations, anniversaries or just a special day trip. We have a selection of food options available which can be added once a booking has been made, alternatively bring your own food (additional charges applicable if you bring your own food/drink, please enquire before booking). Drinks available from the bar if required just let staff know when you arrive. Food options inc:

Paddleboards or otherwise known as SUP’s, this is a fun activity, it is perfect for all ages and skill levels, come along and have a go whether you are experienced or not, feel that you need a lesson? Pop over to our lessons page to check our availability, 1:1 or group sessions available. Max weight limit per board 180kg.

Our Giant stand up paddle board is built for maximum stability, 18ft long and 5ft wide, takes up to 8 people!!

Our single seater kayaks are very stable and comfortable and can take up to 150kg

Our double kayak is designed to carry two adults or two adults and a toddler with a maximum carried load of 280kg

Our boat has been specially adapted so that it is wheelchair accessible. It can carry 4 wheelchair users and 4 carers or a maximum of 10 passengers.
This boat comes with a skipper and those with upper mobility are able to have a go at driving with our unique helm position.
Please note there is no shelter on this boat, we do provide umbrellas though just in case!.
The boat can also be used commercially for maintenance/ inspection under bridges etc, please contact us for further information.

Somerdays is available to book as a self-drive Narrowboat for day bookings. Licensed for a maximum of 8 people. You are welcome to bring your own picnics and drinks on board for your day out or you can use our kitchen and bar for anything you would like including breakfasts, packed lunches, cream teas etc (please enquire before booking) 09:30-16:30 including 30 mins training
